GREETING

This non-profit organization established in November 2014. The mission of CHS is to reduce educational gap in Japan and contribute to Japan's globalization.

The reason why I found this non-profit organization is, I experienced cultural differences between Japan and other countries.

I spent my childhood at an international school and transferred to the Japanese school when I was 7 years old. When I transferred to the Japanese school, I was amazed by the children who are saying to their friends that "You should not use pink because you are boy!" back then I already wondered why they would say that, since at the international school this wasn’t an issue. Right now I think this little example shows a difference in cultures.

Since I'm able to speak English, some of my friends told me that "If I could speak English like you, I would work abroad." Every time I heard that phrase, I felt like language is just a tool to express what you think and what you learned. Therefore, If you aren't smart enough, you can't get a job abroad even if you can speak English fluently. I think speaking English fluently is less important than accepting the cultural differences and respect each other.

Through these experiences, I thought Japanese people, and especially teenagers, need an opportunity to experience cultural differences so that they will know how to communicate and accept the different cultures and maybe even learn from other cultures as well. That is why I started providing the Domestic Home Stay program for free to all teenagers. As a non-profit organization, we are providing this Domestic Home Stay program preferentially to the teenagers who are not able to go abroad because of their financial situation.

I hope this Domestic Home Stay program will be the hope for the teenagers who gave up going abroad. Also, we would like to provide this program to the teenagers who just want to experience the cultural differences so that they might be encouraged going abroad in the future.

As you may know, we are always looking for an English speaking host families who can welcome guests! If you are interested in becoming a host family, please register HERE! We are looking forward to hearing from you!! Also, don't forget to check our Facebook page for updates and new information.
